Lone Magical Technician?

"Hey Em! What does LMT stand for?" I can tell you.....it isn't Lone Magical Technician! :)
Once I chatted with a man who thought massage was a waste of time because it helped him for a day and then he felt bad again. People totally miss the fact that continued self-care is essential in feeling good......massage therapists aren't miracle workers!
I always think it's funny when people say, "I don't believe in massage." It is real and it does have benefits. It's not like the tooth fairy...it does exist..... :) I assume people mean that they don't believe massage 'can help them'.
Sometimes, I catch myself thinking as I'm sore....."Man, I need more work done next time to....." and that may definitely be true, but then I realize that I hadn't stretched well that week. I'll stretch and feel great again. With a little encouragement and direction, I let most clients figure out on their own that in order to continue feeling good they must establish a self-care routine. And not just stretching. It can be a whole array of things. Exercise, yoga, meditation, quiet time, a bedtime routine, bath soaks, breathing exercises, good ergonomics, so on and so on.
Truth be told....I struggle with these things too!! Everyone gets overwhelmed with self-care from time to time. I do. Stretching your mind can be exhausting in itself! But start slowly. You have to find what's right for you and truth be told again.... for your schedule.
So, I am here not to relax you but to teach you how to relax yourself...... not to say that I may dip into my 'fairy amnesia dust' from time to time.... :)
And, I always love and welcome any input you've discovered in your journey because it just might help the next person! I am excited to try a client-recommended book called Radical Beauty by Deepak Chopra and Kimberly Snyder. And, another client encouraged me to try an app called Insight Timer, where you can engage in various types of meditation. I love this free app! I've also had people inspire me to exercise again since my hip flexor injury a couple of years ago. We can all benefit from some encouragement!
So together, we have to put in the work. Sing with me! "I be-lieve..........I be-lieve............."
